Blockchain is changing reality and the functioning of the economy – just like the internet once did. By allowing digital information to be distributed but not copied, blockchain technology created the backbone of a new type of internet. Originally devised for the digital currency, Bitcoin, the tech community is now finding other potential uses for the technology. This tech talk will host a panel of experts as they explore the basics of this breaking technology, its potential and implementation.

Founder of Xanadu

Mark is a founder of Xanadu, a software development company that start in Cork in 2011, with 160 staff, offices in Italy, London and Canada. Xanadu build highly transactional data based platform and products and was voted Cork Chamber SME in 2015. Mark has been an it@cork director since 2015 and was involved in founding the Cork Tech Leadership series.

Mark has also founded a Codordojo in his locality in which he is a weekly mentor. Mark is an avid believer in the Cork tech sector as well as being an active investor in the Cork tech startup scene.

In this role, Eoghan works with the board of it@cork, industry and stakeholders in the region to ensure the technology sector in Cork and the South West region fulfils its potential to be the favoured location for technology companies in Ireland.

Eoghan previously worked as a Development Adviser for Enterprise Ireland supporting Irish technology companies to internationalise their business.

Paula is a dynamic, hands-on, Developer-turned-Manager, with more than nine years’ experience in large enterprise software development projects.
She joined the Deloitte EMEA Blockchain Lab in 2017 and has since managed and delivered two blockchain enterprise solutions.

Paula has also run multiple blockchain proposition design workshops to help clients on their blockchain journey.

Head of Research And Development at Bank of Ireland

Stephen Moran leads Bank of Ireland's research programme in emerging technologies. With over 20 years’ experience with leading organisations, he is particularly focused on the potential of Blockchain technology and AI to radically alter international trade; improve the customer experience, increasing organisational efficiency, and reducing costs.

Stephen currently serves on the European Banking Federation (EBF) and Euro Banking Association (EBA) blockchain taskforces.
