Recovery Through Technology - Technology in Business Conference 09
The success of the Irish technology sector has long been linked to strong Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) with high profile multinationals such as Intel, Google and Dell locating in the country. Yet, the fact the Ireland has a strong indigenous technology industry is often overlooked. For instance the local Irish software industry employs near 10,000 people exporting 73% of their €1.6 billion sales.
Now, during the current environment, with world economies trying to find their feet and multinationals relocating, Ireland faces a number of challenges. One course of recovery is to leverage our past successes in the technology sector and continue to build a strong base of organisations developing home-grown technologies for global markets.
To do this we need to (i) learn from key global success stories, (ii) exploit new technologies, (iii) develop robust innovation systems, and (iv) regain competitiveness and leverage current technology multinationals.
This year's Technology in Business Conference - Recovery Through Technology will go to the heart of these issues.
