According to Denis Collins, Chairman of it@cork "it@cork is making a drive towards recognising, enhancing and encouraging the spirit of Corporate Social Responsibility ("CSR") within Ireland. Businesses can help solve social issues using their unique core skills and IBM and Quinn Healthcare and it@cork have recently supported SHINE Ireland
which is a charity that assists autistic children. As business leaders, it is critical that we take our corporate social responsibilities seriously. The IT industry should be a primary leader in this space and the Smarter Senses Project is a wonderful example of the good things we can do -- a perfect balance of it@cork, industry leaders and technology making a difference where it is greatly needed".

According to David Reilly, Reilly & Co, Commercial & Technology Solicitors and it@cork Board Member "it@cork is proud to have within its membership base such a wide collection of technology and business skill and acumen and we would actively encourage our members to approach us to see if they can assist us by providing the community with such skills and time in order to help SHINE and other organisations going forward"

According to Kieran McAuliffe, Director Shine Centre for Autism "We at the Shine Centre for Autism are delighted that it@cork have chosen us to benefit from their commitment to their policy of Corporate Social Responsibility. Over the last number of months we have been working with Denis Collins, Eoin Motherway, David Reilly on the Smarter Senses Project by harnessing the skill sets available through it@cork to improve educational outcomes for children and adolescents with autism. With both expertise and funding committed through it@cork by BNY/Mellon, David
Reilly Solicitors and Quinn Healthcare the project has become a reality.

The Smarter Senses Project has been driven forward by the enthusiasm and commitment from the people at it@cork and this ground breaking multi-stranded project is set to have a profound impact not only on our
children at the Shine Centre but across the entire autistic community. Throughout this project it@cork has also ensured that any possible revenues accruing from the technologies developed will be safeguarded to benefit the
charity in the years ahead. In my opinion this project demonstrates the perfect model of how an organisation such as it@cork can harness through its policy of CSR the many talents it has at its disposal to develop and deliver
a ground breaking project such as this. On behalf of all of our children and everyone at the Shine Centre."

IBM and Quinn Healthcare are providing the technology and the means to give to SHINE an IBM hw/sw unit which is proven to assist autistic children as well as iPad Touches and interactive whiteboard school aids to add to their new sensory garden which has been contributed by BNY Mellon. This venture was recently announced at the SHINE Charity Ball.

This is an exciting new it@cork initiative supported by an integrated team of organizations (BNY/Mellon, IBM, Quinn-Healthcare, Reilly & Co Solicitors, Commercial & Technology Solicitors) helping Autistic children in Ireland.

The model demonstrates how technology can fuel advancement for the children-- examples include -- an integrated hw/sw unit that is proven to help autistic children, acquisition of ipad touches/interactive whiteboard, school aids, adopt a school program are all in-focus examples to make a difference.

If you know of other people/organizations that would like to contribute in any manner, please contact Marie Fitzpatrick by email: marie@itcork.ie or alternatively, by telephone: 021 230 7011.
