Simplifying Enterprise Application Development with Spring 2.0 and AOP
Enterprise developers and architects all recognise a common set of terms when discussing enterprise applications. We talk about the service layer, business services, data access operations, and so on. Many requirements are also expressed in terms of this vocabulary. In this talk Adrian will argue that it is both simpler and more powerful to implement such requirements directly in terms of the vocabulary, and will demonstrate this with several examples. Along the way he will introduce the new AOP (aspect-oriented programming) support in Spring 2.0. Come and find out what's behind all the fuss about AOP and how it can actually help you to solve real problems.
Speakers: Adrian Colyer, UK, Interface21

Web Services and Service Oriented Architectures (SOA)
Web Services and SOA are very hot topics in enterprise development, enabling applications to be created from components distributed around a network implemented using different technologies.  This session will look at the support built-in to both the Java Standard Edition and the Java Enterprise Edition that enable the rapid creation, deployment and use of web services in an SOA.

Event Report

“Today's conference was well thought out and well executed”, this is just one of the positive comments received from delegates at our 2nd it@Cork Java conference.

We have now received conference slides from the speakers and have made these available on the it@Cork website at index.cfm?page=events&eventId=72&past=1. Adrian Colyer has contacted us with the name of the book he could not remember during his presentation so here is a link - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sceptical-Essays-Routledge-Classics-S/dp/0415325080).

Both speakers have also been in touch to say how delighted they were at the very positive and enthusiastic response they received from all delegates at the conference. So pats on the back all around!

Thanks too to Sun and Horizon Open Systems for their sponsorship. Looking forward to seeing all those t-shirts (with pants please!).

For an in depth review of the conference, speakers and topics, check out our conference partner – Decare Systems Ireland – blog on http://blog.decaresystems.ie/index.php/author/blawlor/.
