Blogging For Business
World’s Best Known Blogger to Open it@cork National Conference
Robert Scoble, Technical Evangelist with Microsoft, will be in Cork on Wednesday November 30th to provide the opening address to the it@cork National Technology & Business Conference (www.itcork.ie) at the Rochestown Park Hotel.
Blogging (the activity of updating a web log or blog) is a global phenomenon that is rapidly gaining momentum as a business and communications tool. Scoble is at the forefront of this corporate blogging movement and effectively intertwines his Microsoft role with his blogging activities (http://radio.weblogs.com/0001011/). Scoble has been widely credited with creating a more positive perception of Microsoft and many now view him as the voice of the company around the world.
Robert Scoble will share his expertise and insights into blogging with it@cork Conference delegates and will also discuss emerging trends in software at a Technical Forum session in the afternoon. Scoble will also attend an inaugural “bloggers dinner” being planned for 8pm that evening. The Conference, in addition to being the premier ICT event of the year, is shaping up to be the largest ever gathering of Irish bloggers.
Speaking in advance of the conference Robert Scoble said “Corporate blogging is changing how companies talk with their customers. Do it wrong and you could end up with negative PR. Do it right and you'll have happier employees, better products, and more informed customers. It'll be interesting to learn about the blogging that's happening in Ireland and I'll bring some of the top tips I've learnt working for Microsoft.”
Donal Manning, ICT Manager with Heineken Ireland and Chairman of it@cork added “We are delighted that Mr Scoble will be joining us at this year’s Conference and are anticipating a compelling address on blogging.”
