Spotlight – IBM Software Development
IBM Software Development, based in the Cork Airport Business Park, started in 2007 with the acquisition of a Cork start-up. In the last 8 years the site has doubled to over 150 Engineers. The work being carried out in the Cork office has evolved dramatically from its Telco heritage to cover cutting edge development in Analytics, Telco, Cloud, and Security as well as a centre of excellence for Information Development. Due to the dramatic technology changes we’ve seen in the last 5 years new roles are constantly being added whether that be in Information Development, Support, Development, Product Management and Test.
IBM supports a diverse set of customers in Ireland ranging from Agriculture and Food to Banking. Members of the IBM Cork office visit clients around the world each month.
In IBM Cork we have a strong schools program with ex-students returning to support the next generation of Developers. We are also proud to host Coder Dojo at our premises in the Cork Airport Business Park each Saturday morning. Finally, we’ve been fortunate to work with initiatives such as Shine and Irish Centre for Foetal and Neonatal Translational Research in UCC. Details of IBM Cork’s involvement with these initiatives and other initiatives in the community can be seen here: www.ibm.com/ie/ibm/ibmgives/
